Children's clothes: both boys and girls wore skirts to the age of 5 or 6. skirts grow longer as the girl grew up until it reached floor length in their later teens. Older girl wore hoops to hold out their skirts. Young girls wore washable pinafores over their dresses, for work and play to keep them clean.
