Artefact 1: Alice

Feedback
Overall, my focus group felt that Alice looked very delicate. Which is what i tried to achieve with her youthful looks. Andy (my tutor) associated the youthful cheek blush with the china people from 'The Wizard of Oz'. Delicate is a defining part of the china people, so perhaps it's puts too much delicacy in Alice. However this has given me knowledge of how to make characters delicate and breakable.
Also, it was mentioned that the dress design looked wrong, as if it were made in "Scandinavia, somewhere in Europe" and not the English design I was aiming for. Although the dress hid most of the body, it was clear that i has stretched her proportions making her seem older.
The style that i drew Alice in, seemed old-fashioned by my Tutor. Almost out-dated. He would have preferred a contemporary design for Alice. He referred to Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack, which aren't that recent, however i did get his point.
The focus group also admired some of the early drafts based purely on the positioning of the character, which shows how well posing can help show personality. Perhaps i can use this better in the final designs.
In conclusion, i will have to recreate Alice, paying great attention to the style and naive, simple personality that i want to present for Alice.
