Sir John Tenniel was an Illustrator and cartoonist.
He illustrated 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'.
He has a realistic style that is slightly cartoonised. I find that i prefer this look as it depicts Alice as the young, innocent and naive girl that she was. He was the first Illustrator to depict Alice with her pinafore, which was stolen by disney, and is now her iconic look.
However there's one thing that puts me a little off with the illustrations; It's Alice's face. Usually drawn with a harder line than the rest of her. Quite dark around the eyebrows, making her look older and angrier in the face.
